Changes Over Time

Listen in Filipe's voice0:00 / 0:00

In the closing I told you this is a draft of a life, not the final version of one, and that it would change as I change. This page is where I keep that honest. Every time I add a story, sharpen a model, change my mind, or fix something I got wrong, it gets a dated line here, so you always know which version you are holding and what moved since the last one.

It also anchors the book in time. I wrote the first version in the present tense of my own life, so it carries sentences like "I had the surgery two weeks ago" and "as I write this." I kept them on purpose, because the freshness is part of the truth and I did not want to sand every living moment down into a flat, dateless line. But a relative sentence needs a fixed point, so here it is: unless a later entry says otherwise, read "now," "today," "recently," and "two weeks ago" as relative to the date of the first version below.

A static operating system goes obsolete. A living one updates. So will this one.

June 18, 2026: First version

The first complete version, and the one every later change is measured against. It has the origin chapters, the eight models and how they check each other, how the models work together, how to use the book, and the closing. Every "as I write this" inside it is as of this date.

And the date is not a flourish: it really is June 18, 2026 right now, as I wrap up this first version. The book opens on June 18, 1988, the day I was born, so this first version goes out exactly thirty-eight years after my hello world, to the day. A good day to start counting.
